History
The Arizona Chapter of Women In GIS was founded in 2019 by Priyanka Miller, GISP (MilGeospatial) and Jami Dennis, GISP (Geodetic Analysis) to bring women together from across Arizona. The goal is to serve as a safe place for women from all geospatial fields to work towards overcoming job discrimination, salary discrepancy, professional isolation, and other common barriers women may experience. We work together to foster relationships and resource sharing among members.
Since 2019 we have hosted our popular monthly Mugs & Mornings networking events, started a Book Club, and organized quarterly meetings with special guest speakers. Our attendees, presenters, hosts, and volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds with an interest in geospatial technology. As our volunteer base broadens we are gifted with new ideas and enthusiasm to support people who are often under represented in the geospatial world. Contact us if you'd like to learn more about us or how you can help our cause.
